Hello Aviators!
Getting ready for your Language Proficiency Test (LPT)? At Level6 Aviation, we want to ensure you're fully prepared for the online test. Here are some essential tips to help you succeed:
Clear Identification:
When setting up for your test, make sure there are no accessories like hats or sunglasses that could obstruct the examiner's ability to confirm your identity.
Proper Lighting:
A well-lit environment is crucial for clear webcam visibility. Make sure you're positioned in a way that your face is clearly visible to the examiner.
Quiet Environment:
Choose a quiet, distraction-free space for the test. This will help both you and the examiner focus on the conversation without interruptions.
Treat the Test like a Conversation:
Approach the test as a conversation rather than a series of questions and answers. Aim to provide detailed responses instead of one-word answers. The more you speak, the better we can assess your language skills.
Ask 'Say Again':
If a question or clearance is unclear, don't hesitate to ask for it to be repeated with a 'Say Again'. This is a common phrase in aviation and shows that you're proactively ensuring comprehension.
Relax and Be Yourself:
The LPT is all about testing your language skills, not your knowledge on a specific topic. So, stay calm, be yourself, and remember that the goal is to understand your level of English in an aviation context.
Use Pen and Paper:
You are allowed, and encouraged, to use pen and paper during the test to jot down things like ATC clearances or ATIS.
Take Our Practice Test:
Before the real test, we highly recommend taking our practice test. It will give you a feel of the actual testing environment, the types of questions asked, and how to handle them. This practice can greatly increase your confidence and ability to perform well in the actual test. Click here to take the practice test.
Remember, preparation is the key to success. Familiarize yourself with these tips before your test, and you'll be well on your way to obtaining your Aviation English Language Certificate. As always, the Level6 Aviation team is here to support you every step of the way. Fly high and safe!
